Renting a dumpster is one of the easiest ways to keep your home project, renovation, or construction site clean and organized. While the process is simple, following a few basic guidelines can help you avoid delays, additional fees, and safety concerns.
At Long Dumpster Rentals, we want every rental to be hassle-free. Keep these do's and don'ts in mind to ensure your project goes smoothly from delivery to pickup.
Dumpster Rental Do's and Don'ts
Do's
Choose the right dumpster size. Selecting the proper size helps avoid overloading and unnecessary costs. Not sure which size you need? Our team can help.
Load debris evenly. Spread materials throughout the dumpster instead of piling everything in one corner. This keeps the load balanced and maximizes available space.
Let us know about heavy materials. Concrete, brick, stone, asphalt, and dirt have weight restrictions and may require special accommodations.
Keep the area around the dumpster clear. Make sure our trucks have enough room to safely deliver and remove the container.
Schedule your rental early. Booking ahead helps ensure availability and keeps your project on schedule.
Contact us with questions. We're happy to help you choose the right dumpster and answer disposal questions before your rental begins.
Don'ts
Don't overfill the dumpster. Debris should never extend above the fill line. Overfilled dumpsters cannot be safely transported and may require materials to be removed before pickup.
Don't dispose of prohibited materials. Hazardous waste, paint, chemicals, batteries, propane tanks, electronics, and other restricted items are not permitted without prior authorization.
Don't mix restricted materials with regular debris. If you're unsure whether something is allowed, contact us before placing it in the dumpster.
Don't block access to the dumpster. Vehicles, equipment, or debris placed around the container can delay pickup.
Don't wait until pickup day to request extra time. If your project is running longer than expected, let us know as soon as possible.
Don't move the dumpster yourself. Once it's been delivered, it should remain in place. If you need it relocated, give us a call.
